Ours is a historic restaurant, Mr Franco (the one you often see in the pictures to clean mushrooms or salad), you opened it in the early 60s after working for years in the best restaurants in TRASTEVERE .. since then we have always been a family of restaurateurs, attentive to cooking and raw materials and we remain so, even now that all around restaurants with imaginative names open, which are however unscrupulous commercial operations that pretend to be historical, are not and probably are a chain that uses many frozen raw materials ... we are old school ... and real restaurateurs ...
Food not good, the price high,Later edit: After I told them that the food was not great, they began to scoff at me and my friends at the table. This is not the case with the client. I paid fairly, I just said the food was not good and I added a review on the table
Great place in center of Roma. Awesome mushrooms.
We were here a couple of nights ago & had the most wonderful time, so we thought we’d go back for lunch before we headed to the airport. The waiters were just as friendly - until we refused to have the Sea Bass main meal that they were pushing onto all the tourists - none of the locals. The waiter who flamboyantly tried to coerce us to have the sea bass, in particular, was visibly annoyed & rude when we said we didn’t want it as he’d already sent it to the kitchen - without really asking us if we’d like to go ahead. He was lovely when we arrived & then barely looked at us & grunted through our order - then he asked for a tip at the end! Fortunately there was another waiter that was lovely - he came up to us personally & told us not to feel pressured into what his co-worker was insisting on. The food was still amazing, but our final meal in Rome was ruined by the attitude of that waiter. What a shame.
Amazing food on a back alley in Trastevere.
The best chocolate mousse - and great local red wine - quick service - quiet sweet location - perfecto!
Can’t really understand some of the bad reviews.. Very inviting and cozy outside-seating with friendly and polite staff. I believe the owner/manager took our order and there wasn’t a single problem, quite the opposite! But yes, the food was a bit pricey, especially the fish (€60) - but very high quality! One of our company said it was the best fish she has ever eaten. So. To sum it up; lovely place, especially outside in the evening, the prices were little high but in my opinion it’s absolutely worth it. Perfect place to end our trip to Rome!
We arrived just before the kitchen closed for lunch. I wish the waiters had told us this as we'd happily have gone elsewhere, but they let us sit down and then made it very clear we were unwanted guests. The food and wine was good quality, and the other families finishing their meals were all Italian, so it must be a highly rated local place, but I have never been made to feel quite so unwelcome.
Good pizza, service took quite long, the waiter was kind of rude
Very nice I decide to celebrate my birthday in Trastevere and instinctively book in this beautiful restaurant !!!! Good choice !!! We had a nice evening! Nice reception, great service !!!!! my compliments to the staff who were truly extraordinary in their professionalism, participation and attention! We ate really well with an excellent rich and good starter of excellent first and second courses! The wine list is also good, ample and of quality !! I'm sure I'll come back and renewing my compliments, I can definitely recommend it!
If I could put 0 stars I would. The spot is nice and our waiter was kind but unfortunately the food was AWFUL. The pasta we ordered had no taste whatsoever, we felt like it was more a tourist trap than an authentic restaurant. I personally feel that the owner doesn’t give that much importance to taste and customer satisfaction. He just wants the money to keep coming in without his clients leaving the restaurant with a smile.
Fabulous food , great service
The absolute best pasta I ever ate
Settled because the service was good and the atmosphere was lovely. Food was ok. Not bad but not amazing. The concept of each dish sounded interesting.
Delicious food and cousy garden. One of the best restaurants in Rome.
Avoid this place! The setting was nice, however the waiter was very rude and food was mediocre. Because we didn't want to order from the expensive fish of the day, the waiter got very irritated. As we ordered pasta with fish and house wine, he brought us red wine without even asking. Unlike other guests we were not offered to taste it. Overall very disappointing experience.
Ate here multiple times over the weekend. Every dish I ordered was delicious and would eat here every meal if given the opportunity. The carbonara and green pepper steak are exceptionally good.
Great Italian restaurant for a family brunch on a sunday, or any day! With a inviting family atmophere, wonderful service and fresh ingredients. I highly recommend this place!
Service was great and the food was great
Typical Italian restaurant - we were walking past when the display of fresh mushrooms caught our eye. The headwaiter described what they could do with them as a first course and we were hooked. Followed with the fish if the day - sea bream perfectly cooked, and then filleted and served to us at the table to the delight and envy of other diners. Great service and great wine too
Very good grilled fish 😊
Typical roman cuisine with extremely friendly waiters and waitresses
The food is outstanding. The waiters are trained to tell Americans that the bill does not include a tip...even though it does and is clearly stated on the menu.
Really nice place, food was good too, the whole fish looked amazing. As the place got busier the service dwindled slightly.
The fish is awesome but can be pricey! We sat inside with no wait for seating but we still waited quite a long time for our water/bread/food because of how crowded it was on a Saturday night... staff is friendly!
Superb food , location and service!
Nice place with mixed levels of food. The firsts that were mixed fried dishes and caprese salad were below average. The mains that were mixed grilled meats and fish with artichoke were very nice. The service was ok. The place is very nice. But not a place that I will come back.
Very nice place with an impressive wine list. We liked it so much that we came back a second time for our last lunch in Rome. First time (dinner) we had the homemade pasta with ham and cream, and gnocchi with tomato and basil. The pasta and sauce was great and so were the gnocchi, but the tomato sauce was perhaps a little too mild/bland. With this we had the 2014 Chianti Geografico which was very nice indeed. For the second visit (lunch) we had grilled porcini mushrooms for starters, and the grilled sea bass as main course. Both are quite a bit more pricey than pretty much everything else on the menu (expect around 75% more than for "regular" dishes) but this is frankly to be expected with fresh fish and fresh, seasonal mushrooms. The quality was in any way impeccable. Our waiter was very friendly and professional. Top notch place!
The food is divine and the staff treat you as family! Here on recommendation from friend and did not disappoint.
I had the most beautiful carbonara here; crunchy guanciale, pasta al dente and delicious sauce. Will definitely be back!
Very unfriendly Sevice / Staff, Food okey
David was an excellent waiter. His personality, command of the English language and suggestions were over the top. Our meal and experience was fabulous!!
The staff was fantastic, food was better. I had the best pizza at this place. Would highly recommed eating here. Our waiter was excellent, we'll get his name tomorrow when we return for more great pizza!
The staff are very experienced and friendly although will try to upsell food (it is a business after all!) but any food you get is well worth it! The mushrooms we had to start were some of the best we've ever had :)
Fantastic food. Ate here four times in a weekend. Regret nothing
Very nice place, good food
Fabulous pizza while wandering through Trastevere. Went for lunch as recommended by friends in Rome. Sat outside & great to be in an out-of-the-way spot.
Unfortunately I would not come back. If I had to rate ONLY the food, then I would give 4 stars, but the service would not get even 1 star. The waiter was so rude, to be honest I have never had such a rude service. When he came to take our order, he seemed bored and just wanted to do it as soon as possible. It felt like he wanted to get rid of us! It is pretty sad since the location and the atmosphere is quite nice. Please, consider to change your attitude towards the guests.
Stumbled across this beautiful restaurant with my girlfriend whilst wondering through Travestere. I ate the freshly made Fettuccini Funghi pasta which was without doubt one of the tastiest meals ive ever eaten. The tomato and basil Gnocchi was also insane! Would HIGHLY recommend and only wished we had found this hidden gem sooner during our trip.
Super lovely place with incredible dishes made of super simple but super great Italian ingredients. Mr. David is a super nice waiter, which takes good care of his guests, friendly with a big smile on his face. I highly recommend the pizza, gnocchi and especially the panna Cotta here, which is the best I have ever had :) a must visit while your in Trastevere :)
Was a real shame, the restaurant is set on a nice backstreet, with lovely hanging lights & vines. However, the service was frankly dreadful, and the food wasn't up to much either. Frustrating at the end when the table to our right had complained and left no tip (which was fair given the number of times the sent their food back), the waiter proceeded to hand us our bill, tell us service was not included and stood watching until we quite clearly also left no tip. Uncomfortable to say the least.
Fantastic food and Fantastic service - all in all a Fantastic evening with Bruno 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Fantastic food and good service and extremely good pizza!
The staff was very rude. One of the waitors was chewing some food while serving us. After we ate, the waitors were keep coming to ask us if we need anything like voltures only to push us to free the table. We were there only for 20 minutes. Avoid it at all costs.
We spent a wonderful time in this restaurant! The location is marvelous, hidden in a colourful little street in Trastevere. The dishes were exquisites! We highly recommend the supplí, the fettuccine with ceps (the fresh mushrooms were all exposed at the entrance of the restaurant to be directly cooked) and the home-made rigatonni carbonara. David, our waiter, was really kind, trying to talk a bit of french with us (even if he speaks english really well). The best was when we wanted to order an other dish as the restaurant was about to close. David immediately asked the kitchen to modify the carbonara pastas that we already had to make us a surprise! A very appreciated attention! Thanks a lot, we will recommend this address to our friends travelling in Rome!
Fantastic food and fantastic service!
Great service and delicious food! We had our pre wedding wedding dinner here and the staff went above and beyond for us the entire time we were there!
